Kickstart Your 2017!
Posted on 03 January 2017
Every year, we make the same promises to get rid of bad habits and take better care of ourselves – to exercise more, eat healthier, and indulge less!
As a tribute to this yearly ritual of internal cogitation, we have come up with a list to inspire you into kick starting 2017 with a sublime bang – if a bang could ever be sublime.
Wardrobe Feng Shui
Detox your wardrobe for the start of 2017. Sell or donate anything you didn’t wear in 2016 and start creating the perfect capsule wardrobe, full of quality, select pieces that will last you a lifetime.
The less is more mantra will leave you feeling light and ready to take on new projects with a spring in your step.
Facial
Start the New Year beautiful, glowing inside and out by making skin care your priority. Besides the obvious recommendations, such as wearing sunscreen every day and always removing your make up before going to bed, why not try something a little more luxurious?
Treat yourself to a spa treatment. The sumptuous Claridge’s beauty treatment rooms are a calm sanctuary where you can relax completely and emerge refreshed, rejuvenated and glowing.
For every day, try at home treatments from some of our favourite brands; Clarins and Ren.
The Detox Booster from Clarins is a high-concentrate formula specifically designed to target damaged skin. Add a couple of drops into your favourite face cream, mask or even foundation for revived radiance and detoxified, plumped skin.
Health
You don't have to be a vegan to add more plant-based meals into your diet! We could all use a little more green in our lives — real food, lots of vitamins and minerals, and so many benefits!
Relax, but still get the alertness you need by switching to natural teas and homemade juices. A cup of green tea can give you a nice boost of energy whilst a rejuvenating green juice will give you a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals.
Exercise
A dance class is a wonderful way to connect with your partner whilst increasing your metabolism and having fun!
Or, plié your way to a stronger 2017 with a ballet inspired class. Designed to sculpt a ballerina’s body whilst enhancing your flexibility and improving your balance, ballet barre classes are accessible to anyone regardless of age, weight, or fitness level.
For a one to one session, why not try Body By Lara? Lara uses barre moves that will stretch your muscles while defining them. You will work on your core, improve your alignment, and lose weight without the risk of injury and muscle imbalance.
Lara teaches in two locations across London.

Sleep
Research has shown that one of the most important things we can do to improve our health and wellbeing is something we can do each and every day, without putting a lot of thought or effort into it: Get more sleep.
Consistently getting a good night’s sleep is also essential for your physical and mental health, lowering stress and ensuring your mind stays sharp. Dedicate more sleeping hours for a productive 2017 full of energy and a better functioning you.
If you have trouble drifting off invest in some beautiful essentials oils. Neal's Yard Absolute Rose Essential Oil will help relieve stress and offer you a good night's sleep, and it smells beautiful too.
Alcohol
If cocktails or a large glass of wine are your indulgence, why not try Dry January and give up alcohol for a month. Or, if you can't bring yourself to do so, at least stick to vodka or gin and sugar free tonic for the occasional sip so you don't go mad!
Take Time Out
Find a moment of private contemplation each day, even if just for a few minutes. Whether it’s attending a yoga session, taking a walk in the park (without your phone!), or dedicating five minutes of your day to closing your eyes, focusing on your breathing and stilling your mind.
Studies have shown that even a small amount of inward focus will help to keep you centered and balanced; make it your priority for 2017.
