Boudoir to Boardroom: How to Wear the Pyjama Trend
Posted on 14 November 2016
Fashion trends always look spectacular on the runway, but incorporating them into your wardrobe can be tricky. But we’re here to help!
Sleepwear as outerwear was hot for spring/summer 2016 and the trend is going nowhere fast as we head into the darker, colder autumn/winter months. Lingerie style is seducing beyond the boudoir with a mood that is more sensual than overtly sexy.
With the nightwear and lingerie trend, it’s vital to invest in luxe fabrics; opt for silk over cotton - it’s sleeker, more polished and much more forgiving. Choose oyster-coloured silk and pearlescent pinks for a softer alternative to bright white. Or choose deep reds and royal purples for a lush autumnal take on the trend.
Champion sexy separates with classic cut pyjamas. A pyjama shirt looks great worn with fashion-forward culottes; it can be worn tucked into a pencil skirt for work or simply paired with your favourite jeans. If you’re working a more androgynous look, keep everything loose and team with a tailored overcoat or jacket.
Classic colours such as black or navy work with a plain white t-shirt or vest top and simple pumps. Or sex-up your look with a lace bralette peeking through. Make the most of a flattering neckline and add a fun necklace or some diamond drop earrings.
If you’re feeling bold, why not try a fully coordinated look with matching shirt and bottoms? The catwalks have been awash with bright colours and flamboyant prints for the last few seasons, so why not inject a sense of fun into your wardrobe and put a smile on everyone’s face!
A slinky slip dress is the ultimate versatile piece. Paired with heels, statement jewellery and a tailored jacket, you’re sure to turn heads on a night out. For day wear, opt for boots, knitwear, structured hats and tote bags to achieve a laid back look.
